DID YOU KNOW?

The establishment of the California Agave Commission hinges on a crucial initial step: the proponents of AB 2606 (the sole sponsors: The California Agave Council) must formally request its creation from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

OPPOSITION TO CALIFORNIA BILL AB 2606
EMPOWERING THE FUTURE OF CALIFORNIA AGAVE

AB 2606, solely sponsored by the California Agave Council, set in motion the process to enlist growers and vote for the establishment of the California Agave Commission, an agency authorized to regulate the agave industry in California. The commission will have the authority to levy assessments on growers and processors, coordinate research, and promote the industry, specifically focusing on agave cultivation for alcoholic beverages. All agave growers and processors (current and future) have to register and pay the assessment fees.

Our mission is to advocate for policies that promote inclusivity and sustainability in the agave industry, ensuring that all voices are heard and represented in legislative discussions.

“Let’s foster opportunities for exploring all the different options agaves offer, not hamper them by enacting expensive and burdensome rules and regulations that will prevent many from even getting out of the gate”
